Gordon NewmanGordon joined the Oil and Energy Division of Bland Welch in 1967 and by the time of the merger with Sedgwick Forbes had become an Executive Director. Subsequently, he was a founding director of Willis Faber's Oil and Gas Division involved in the development of its wholesale American account. From 1982 to 1987 he was Managing Director of Seascope Insurance Holdings Limited responsible for all of its insurance broking business, including its Energy, Marine and Reinsurance subsidiaries. Gordon has been Chairman of NMB since its formation in 1987. In 2009, NMB converted to limited liability partnership status ('LLP') and Gordon is a member of NMB Holdings LLP and Chairman of its Executive Committee. |
Russell BenziesRussell graduated from Aberdeen University in 1980 and joined KPMG where he became a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1983. Russell joined the oilfield services group Schlumberger in 1984 and moved to London with them in 1986. He joined Trade Indemnity, now Euler Hermes UK, the UK’s largest credit insurer, as Financial controller in 1990 and had risen to CEO when he left to establish and be Managing Director of Illium Insurance, a Lloyd's managing agency which manages and operates Syndicate 4040 at Lloyd's. Following the sale of Illium to one of its capital providers, a major U.S. insurance company, Russell worked as the MD of a Munich Re subsidiary before joining NMB as a main board director with responsibility for Finance in October 2009. In April, 2010 Russell became a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Committee. |
Barry BuchanBarry started his insurance career with Bain Dawes in 1965, working in its Marine Claims Department. In 1972 he moved to Fenchurch as a director and was responsible for business production in the UK, Greece and Switzerland. He was appointed Marine Director at Price Forbes Limited on joining them in 1983. In 1988 Barry moved to Newman & Martin - subsequently Newman Martin and Buchan Limited- to set up the Marine Division. Barry is a Main Board Director, Chairman of the Marine Division and generally involved in production and marketing initiatives for the company. Upon NMB's conversion to limited liability parternship status, Barry became a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Committee. |
 Penny HurstPenny qualified as a solicitor in 1977 and is admitted to practice in both the United Kingdom and NSW, Australia. Until 1991 she worked in private practice, specialising in professional indemnity insurance and reinsurance. In 1991 she joined Tindall Riley as Claims Manager. Tindall Riley Limited manages various professional indemnity insurers including the Griffin Insurance Association Limited, a mutual for the provision of errors & omissions insurance to Lloyd's Brokers. In 2001, Penny became Managing Director. She retired in 2008 but continues on the board of Tindall Riley in an non-executive capacity.Penny joined Newman Martin and Buchan LLP as a non-executive Board Member in October, 2009. |
Anita LawAnita qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and worked in law and at an insurance mutual before joining NMB in 2002 as Legal Counsel. In 2003 she also became NMB's Compliance Officer. Anita is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute. Anita was made a Main Board Director in July 2005 and took over the role of Company Secretary in June 2007. In July 2009 Anita became a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Committee. |
Simon PringleAfter graduating from Oxford University, Simon joined Seascope Insurance Services Ltd. in 1982. He was a founder member of NMB when the company was established in 1987 and was appointed a Main Board Director in 1992. For many years he was responsible for the day-to-day running of the Energy Division. Currently he is the Company's Production Co-ordinator. Simon is also a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Commitee. |
Colin RogersColin joined Seascope Insurance Services Ltd. in 1984, having graduated from Oxford University. He was a founder member of NMB when the company was established in 1987 and was subsequently a director of the Energy Division. In 1997, he was appointed to the Main Board as Director and Compliance Officer. In 2003 Colin left NMB to establish Illium Insurance, a Lloyd's managing agency which managed and operated Syndicate 4040 at Lloyd's, specialising in UK and international liability business and UK commercial motor insurance. At Illium, he was Operations & Marketing Director. Following the sale of Illium to one of its capital providers, a major U.S. insurance company, Colin returned to NMB in January 2007 as a Main Board Director with specific responsibilities for marketing and co-ordination. He project managed NMB's conversion to limited liability parternship status during 2008/9. In July 2009 he became a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Committee. |
Christopher SimsChris started his career in 1975 working for Fenchurch Group as a trainee claims technician. He subsequently joined Anthony Lumsden as Claims Manager and then moved to Wigham Poland as a divisional director of Marine & Energy. Following its merger with the Sedgwick Group, Chris was appointed an associate director of Price Forbes Limited's Marine Division. Chris joined NMB in 1989 as a divisional director responsible for running the Claims Department. He was appointed a Main Board Director in February 1994 and Managing Director of Newman Martin and Buchan Limited (now LLP) in December 2000. Chris is also a member of NMB Holdings LLP and sits on its Executive Committee. |
